During one point in Varre’s questline, the white-masked NPC will task players with soaking a cloth in Maiden’s Blood. Luckily for players, there’s a source of Maiden Blood located in the Church of Inhibition. Unfortunately, getting there is a bit confusing, and can be downright dangerous for players that are just starting their journey through the Lands Between. Here’s a look at how players can reach the Church of Inhibition in Elden Ring and collect their prize.
How To Get To The Church Of Inhibition In Elden Ring
Those hoping to get to the Church of Inhibition as early as possible will have a long road ahead of them. The church itself lies far north of Elden Ring’s starting area, in the Liurnia of the Lakes region. It’s as far north as players can progress without entering the Altus Plateau via the Grand Lift of Dectus. Although it is possible to run there directly from the start, it’s a long-winded journey through some pretty tough enemies at a low level. Still, players who are confident in their dodging abilities while on Torrent can make the trek to the Church of Inhibition without ever defeating a Demi-God.
Players who are already at the Grand Lift of Dectus can warp there and walk back into Liurnia of the Lakes to get to the same area. From there, they’ll want to head left and up a small hill found at the base of the large staircase leading to the elevator. Once there, they’ll find a path through the woods that winds up the hillside and heads towards a large tower. This is where things get interesting as the tower is capable of spewing Madness that will slowly build until it afflicts the player. The only way to avoid this Madness is to break line of sight with the tower. This can be done by ducking behind rocks, trees, or using the hilly terrain to stay below the tower’s wandering eye.

Players will want to continue up the hill, avoiding the Madness (especially at a lower level, as it can be deadly) until they reach an abandoned town filled with Madness-stricken enemies. From there, they’ll need to progress to the other side of the town where they will find another hill that leads upward and wraps around. Following this path will eventually lead to the Church of Inhibition, but players should be wary that a rather strong NPC Invader lies in wait for those trying to reach the church.
Festering Fingerprint Vyke will jump the Tarnished as they get close to the Church of Inhibition, and he’s a rather difficult fight even for those that are adequately leveled. Those that decide to head to this particular location as early as possible will definitely have their hands full with the fast-moving Vyke and his powerful attacks. Unfortunately, there is no way to make it into the Church of Inhibition without encountering this bloodthirsty NPC, but there have been reports (as of writing, March 16th, 2022) of Vyke not invading certain players. Whether is this a bug, or directly tied to certain held items, bosses, or quests, remains to be seen.
Once Vyke is defeated, players can head into the Church of Inhibition. The Maiden in the chair is where players can use the cloth they receive from Varre, and interacting with her will also give players the Finger Maiden armor set.
