Souls games are always known for their exciting and engaging boss fights. The optional bosses scattered around The Lands Between in Elden Ring ensure that the game keeps the struggle ongoing for players until they reach the next main challenge.

The Grave Warden’s Location In Elden Ring

The Grave Warden is positioned deep in the Murkwater Catacombs in Elden Ring. The dungeon is located on the northeast side of Limgrave. Players can find it by jumping down into Agheel Lake.

After fighting a large group of skeletons, the tarnished will come across an area filled with slugs. Players should use fire to defeat them or walk through until they stumble upon a door that leads inside the Murkwater Catacombs.

A Site of Lost Grace is accessible immediately after entering the Catacombs (like most of Elden Ring dungeons). Therefore, players can rest assured that dying inside won’t require long-distance traveling to recover the lost Runes.

Diving deep into the Catacombs, gamers should head forward into a small corridor leading to another room. This room is also occupied by three Goblins protecting a Lever. Once the tarnished defeats them, interact with the Lever to open the Grave Warden Duelist’s boss room.

How To Beat The Grave Warden Duelist In Elden Ring

The Grave Warden Duelist is an easy boss fight in Elden Ring. Although on the first encounter he might appear intimidating, his combat rhythm is simple and can be learned quickly. When he starts attacking, the Grave Warden will deliver up to five swings with his Hammers. If players roll away from the boss’ attacks, he will stop swinging and march toward the tarnished. The Warden will always stop his combo when the tarnished gets far from him. Moreover, getting far from the Duelist will make him rotate his Hammer then toss it across the room (at the tarnished).

What players should do during this series of attacks is stay next to the Warden. Roll around him and try to reach his back. Although he won’t stop attacking at this point, he will always end his swings with a strong plunge attack that stops him from moving for a second. Use that opportunity to deliver a Backstab by pressing R1/RB while positioned behind him.

After the boss falls down from the Critical Hit, an animation of him getting up will start, making him immune to all kinds of damage. Players can count a second, then fully Charge their strong attack in the middle of the animation (by holding on R2/RT button). This will deliver another massive strike to the Warden.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
