Coming 2 America will see Murphy’s Prince Akeem returning to the United States after discovering he has a son he never knew about living in Queens. Murphy will be joined by returning stars Shari Headley, Arsenio Hall, and James Earl Jones alongside new cast members Jermaine Fowler and Leslie Jones.

With the release of Coming 2 America, the list of films and television shows receiving sequels or reboots decades after the originals debuted continues to grow. This past summer, Will Smith and director Morgan Cooper moved forward with a reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air based on the latter’s fan-film, which reimagined the sitcom as a serious drama.
